What is Kinesio Tape?

Kinesio (or kinesiology) tape is a thin, elastic, often colorful cotton strip with an acrylic adhesive. If you’re an athlete it’s likely you’ve already seen or worn it. It is like human skin in both thickness and elasticity so it can be worn without restricting movement. The concept is to help with the body’s natural healing while providing support and stability to muscles and joints. Kinesio was invented by a chiropractic doctor, Kenzo Kase, in the mid 1970’s in response to the limitations he encountered with traditional athletic tape.
