What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medicine technique that promotes your body’s natural healing process. It is best known by the placement of thin, sterile needles in acupuncture points. If needles are used, they are always single use, sterile needles. There are many types of treatments that do not use needles, however.

How Long Does Acupuncture Take to Work?

The time it takes to feel the effects varies, but it usually takes at least 24 hours after a session. For acute, or minor issues, a few sessions will be enough. For more complicated or severe conditions or injuries, it can take up to a few months of regular sessions to reach full improvement.

How Do Acupuncture Treatments Work?

Many symptoms can be a result of inflammation, which acupuncture treatments can drastically reduce. Acupuncture also stimulates the release of endorphins, your body’s natural feel good chemical. This has a natural self-regulating effect on the bodies systems and can help with your mood, overall energy and restore your sense of wellness.

A patient’s signs and symptoms as well as their unique constitution determine which acupuncture points to use. Symptoms that are described to the acupuncturist during a consultation determine what areas of the body have weak or blocked qi, or living energy. These areas are stimulated to allow for the qi to flow through the body properly.

    Auricular Therapy

Auricular Therapy integrates Western and Chinese theories of health as balance and equilibrium. The use of acupuncture ear seeds in the ear is based on the rich and multiple connections it has to the central nervous system.

    Cold Laser Therapy

(also known as low level laser therapy or LLLT) to address acute and chronic pain, reduce inflammation, increase circulation and promote tissue healing. In multiple clinical studies cold laser therapy has proved a safe and effective method for promoting and enhancing healing, not just treating symptoms.

Cupping provides suction to the acupuncture points, meridians, or energy pathways, and muscles. A partial vacuum with cups are placed on the skin either by means of heat or suction. Cup acupuncture treatments increases circulation of blood and Qi, or energy, promotes oxygenation and releases tension / contraction in the muscles, tissues and meridians.

    Kinesio Tape Treatment

Kinesio Tape Treatment is done by our certified Kinesio taping chiropractor. Kinesio taping is a rehabilitative technique often used to improve athletic performance and decrease pain.
